I was commissioned by the City of Markham to design 21 bracelets earlier this year for the Clarkson Cup Women’s Hockey Tournament. The Clarkson Cup is the women’s equivalent to the Stanley Cup. I had a blast designing the bracelets and my creativity took absolute flight. I’ve since designed some bracelets that I think are also pretty spectacular with a mix of stones, textures and colours. All of the bracelets are available for purchase and you can email me at barbran@sympatico.ca if you’re interested. These are absolutely one-of-a-kind, original Barb nahwegahbow designs. Unique. Original. Aboriginal. That’s me! I’d find it boring repeating designs.
The large stone is called the Picasso Stone and looks like a little landscape. This bracelet also has Tektite which is meteorite, Black Tourmaline, Moonstone, Matte Onyx in rounds and cube, Sterling Silver beads and clasp and a Sterling Silver Turtle to remind us all that we are on Turtle Island. That’s what Indigenous people call North America. I’ve also included a sterling silver extender chain because we are not all the same size!
Turquoise, Ebony Wood, Agate and Amazonite make up this bracelet. I added a vintage Sterling Silver handmade Navajo bead and Sterling Silver clasp and extender chain.
Blacks, greys and white in Tektite, Moonstone, Quartz Crystal, Matte Onyx, Agate, Black Tourmaline and a single White Pearl make up this bracelet. Included is a vintage handmade sterling silver Navajo bead and Sterling clasp and extender chain.
I have more but you’ll have to come out to my next show – the Aboriginal Pavilion at Fort York starting July 16 until July 26, from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. See you then. In the meantime, if you’re interested, email me at: barbran@sympatico.ca.
